Long Distance Wireless Ethernet Video Systems
Point-to-Point & Point to Multi-Point
Wireless Ethernet Systems
The new WESII PTP and PTMP long range
wireless ethernet systems feature fast 5Ghz
MIMO
technology, 802.11a/n compliance and up to 300Mbps throughput. WESII
systems provides long range connectivity for a wide range of IP devices such
as megapixel/HD cameras, DVRs, encoders/decoders and Web servers. This
wireless technology is the
perfect solution for challenging outdoor IP network camera installations
where CAT5 cabling is not an option. The wireless is secured by WPA2 using AES or TKIP encryption methods.
Point to Point Wireless
Ethernet Kit
The WESII-PTP (point to point) system is a
client/host based system. A Client (transmitter) would be
mounted at or near the camera or device being transmitted. The video signal
would be transmitted wirelessly back to the Host (receiver) destination,
typically the computer system managing the cameras. Each camera would need a
separate WESII-PTP kit in this scenario. This kit would be used if you have
a camera in a distant location where running CAT5 cable is not feasible.
The range on this kit is 2500' LOS (line of sight) point to point. See
example diagram below:

Point to Multi Point Wireless
Ethernet - Using 60 Degree Host
A single PTMP-HOST60 (point to
multi-point) unit can be used with multiple Clients. This system
would be used in a scenario where you have multiple cameras in one area (a
marina for example) that would all transmit back to a single focal point
(the Host). A PTMP system cuts down on project cost where multiple cameras
are used. A PTMP Host will pickup wireless signal from a Client unit within a 60
Degree radius and a distance of 2500' LOS.
The mounting configuration is similar to a
PTP whereby a Client (transmitter) would be mounted at or near each camera
or device being transmitted. The video signals from all Clients are
transmitted wirelessly to a single Host (receiver) to the destination,
usually the computer system managing the cameras. See the diagram below:

Point to Multi Point Wireless
Ethernet - Using 360 Degree Host
A PtMP (point to multi-point) system a
single Host-360 can be used with multiple Clients. This system
would be used in a scenario where you have multiple cameras in one area (a
marina for example) that would all transmit back to a single focal point
(the Host). A PTMP system cuts down on project cost where multiple cameras
are used. A PTMP Host will pickup wireless signal from a Client with a
360 Degree radius and a distance of 2500' LOS.

Example of Using a Single Client for
Multiple Cameras
If you have a cluster of cameras in close
proximity, you can connect them to a switch and connect the CLIENT
to the switch. In the example below, this will transmit all 3 camera's video
using a single client back to the host. The number of cameras that can be
used depends on camera settings such as compression settings and FPS which
effect bandwidth, but in general up to 3 cameras work well.

Tech Notes:
PTP and PTMP systems can be
combined in any project. You may also use multiple PtP or multiple PtMP
clusters on any project. This equipment allows an installer to mount
surveillance cameras where you would otherwise not have an option to do so.
As long as there is power at the location where the camera is being mounted,
that is all you need. The WESII system will do the rest.
If you have a current project and need
technical input for this system, feel free to contact us and send us a site
drawing. We will be happy to brainstorm with you to make sure you order the
right equipment.
